Job Description
Geophysicist required for UKCS, Norway and Ireland Exploration and Development.
Our client, one of the world's leading integrated energy company requires a Geophysicist to join their Aberdeen-based Subsurface Group. The Aberdeen team is tasked with providing full G&G and RE support to the company's International Production Operations. Specific areas of focus are operated assets in the UK, Norway and Ireland. In addition the Subsurface Group also works closely with the Business Development team and the worldwide exploration group to address potential growth and exploration opportunities.
The acquisition of extensive 3D and 4D seismic surveys in 2007 has generated an enormous amount of reservoir re-mapping and characterisation work to be accomplished during 2008 and beyond. In order to ensure that commitments are appropriately met the company requires an additional geophysicist to work within its Aberdeen based team.
The role will deliver geophysical work programmes, involving the analysis and interpretation of 3D and 4D seismic data to promote potential new development, exploitation and exploration drilling targets. The position requires close collaboration with all subsurface technical disciplines, management and partners. Key responsibilities include;
Structural and stratigraphic mapping based on the recently acquired 3D and 4D seismic data; Play a fundamental role in defining in-fill development drilling opportunities and possible exploitation or exploration projects; Development studies linked to outside-operated assets within the UK Atlantic margin and the Norwegian continental shelf; Provide key assistance in the evaluation of potential farm-in opportunities and asset acquisitions
Candidates should have a minimum of a BSc in the Geosciences with MSc or PhD preferred, and have experience working as a Geophysicist within an oil company environment on both exploration and development projects.
