Job Description
Our client has delivered on a number of major rail projects including Docklands Light Rail extensions, Edinburgh Airport Rail Link and Crossrail.
As part of the Systems Engineering team, they require a Communications Engineer
Key Objectives
The successful candidate's primary duties will include the production of designs for communications systems to meet deliverables schedules. You will write specifications, draft drawings and check the drawings and documents of other engineers. You will be expected to provide technical input to designs and resolve technical issues as well as coordinate designs with other disciplines and resolve interface issues. You will also attend design review meetings and write reports.
As a secondary duty, you will ensure that the relevant Standards are applied and compliance achieved. You will also ensure the safety quality management procedures and processes are applied.
Role requirements
The candidate appointed will:
" have good task management skills in time, cost, quality, safety and resources. " have relevant engineering experience of communications disciplines in a rail environment. " have a good knowledge of communications systems in addition to familiarity with the production of designs on multi-disciplined schemes is key. " be self-motivated, " have good communication skills " be willing to take the initiative. " experience of at least two of the following types of communications equipment; fixed line telephony, CCTV, radio systems and SCADA systems within a rail environment. " ideally have experience of station design works and the application of Network Rail, LUL and DLR standards. " engineering HNC/HND (or equivalent) " have ability to use IT systems (word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, MS Project etc)
